Step and Repeat: Dissent and Resist Cycles
Abstract:
Generative video based projects remixing data collected using archived and networked media.
Based on digital “step and repeat” cycles: the D.C. Resist and Dissent iterations use video and audio samples recorded at the D.C. Marches – to archive and reflect on notions of resistence in the public arena in the wake of current events.
Media is generally collected on site and the public is encouraged to participate in the creation of the project databases. Live streaming remixes and eventual archived recorded media are made available following the rally and march events.
Installations and video screening is largely variable (live-dynamic or archived media)
[this ongoing body of work was initiated during the 2003 anti war protests]
